A National Advocate for Clients Facing High-Stakes Legal Challenges
I represent clients in high-stakes civil and criminal matters in state and federal courts throughout the United States. I also devote a significant portion of my practice to advising clients involved in crisis situations.
My Journey to the Law
After graduating from Northwestern University’s prestigious Pritzker School of Law, I joined the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. As an Assistant Public Defender in one of the country’s largest public defense agencies, I defended countless individuals accused of committing a wide range of violent crimes before trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Florida.
After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, I entered private practice where I worked for both national and regional law firms. I continued to practice criminal law and also worked on complex civil litigation matters involving business, cross-border, and civil rights disputes. My work has also taken me throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, China, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.
How I Advocate for My Clients
Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to represent clients in unique, often precedent-setting, matters.
I represented a former Venezuelan spy who sued under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act to collect on a multi-million-dollar reward offered by Peru for information leading to the capture and arrest of its fugitive spy chief, Vladimiro Montesinos.
I also litigated cases against other foreign states, most recently Honduras, where I represent nearly one hundred American investors in an expropriation action.
I defended an alleged orchid smuggler charged with violating the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Florida.
I also represent a group of student athletes as part of a team challenging SUNY Albany’s discriminatory practices against female student athletes.

In addition to my litigation matters, I also maintain an active crisis management practice. I advised the chief executive officer of a technology company during a long-running investigation into procurement practices at a U.S. port of entry. I also counseled a physician in a high-profile criminal prosecution alleging the commission of a string of hate crimes. More recently, I worked with officials at the Town of Surfside, Florida, to provide crisis management and strategic communications advice in the wake of the collapse of the Champlain Towers South condominium.
