My Journey to the Law
After graduating from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, I joined the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. As an Assistant Public Defender in one of the country’s largest public defense agencies, I defended countless individuals accused of committing a wide range of violent crimes before trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Florida.
After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, I entered private practice where I worked for national law firms. I continued to practice criminal law and worked on complex civil litigation matters involving business, cross-border, and civil rights disputes. My work has also taken me throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, China, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.
My Experience
Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to represent clients in unique, often precedent-setting, matters.
I decided to become a trial lawyer as a law student when I worked alongside experienced lawyers defending children charged with serious felony offenses, including murder in Chicago. That interest later took me to the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office where I represented adults charged with serious felony offenses. After entering private practice, I started working for clients involved in civil and white-collar criminal disputes. For nearly three decades, my practice has taken me across the United States and around the world to Mexico, Central and South America, Asia, and the Middle East.
Why I Do This Work
I don’t like bullies. I believe a single lawyer on a mission to right a wrong can change the world. And I believe that cases, decided by jurors selected from the community, offer the best opportunity to achieve justice. For me, being a lawyer is not only a career, it is a calling. Every case I take, every client I represent, every argument I make in court represents my unwavering belief that everyone deserves a lawyer who will stand up and fight for those who do not have wealth, power, and influence.
